A community ceremonial movement gathering

Earth Dance is a community ceremony which weaves together epic ethno tribal and medicine music, movement; both guided and freeform, grief tending, heart medicine, devotional song, prayer and collective remembrance.

Rooted in the elements of earth, air, fire, water and ether, this gathering invites us to return to the body, to the land and to each other. In a time where many feel disconnected, overwhelmed or numb, Earth Dance offers a space to feel fully alive again, through our shared humanity. Here we remember that the dance floor can become a place of deep healing and connection. 

Earth Dance is a five hour ceremonial song & dance space through which we get to touch the dirt and divinity of our being, the primal and the holy. You can read more about the arc of the ceremony and what to expect a little further down the page.

At its heart, Earth Dance is a kind of church of home; a sacred gathering space that welcomes people of all spiritual paths, religions and backgrounds. Whether you walk with a particular tradition or faith, with the wisdom of the land, or simply with a longing to reconnect with life, you are welcome here. Our intention is to create a space where our humanity transcends any need to separate and other. 

The team holding the space are trauma-conscious and deeply committed to creating a culture of safety, consent and care. We recognise that powerful experiences can arise through music, movement and ceremony, and the space is gently held so that each person can move at their own pace.

Throughout the gathering there will be Space Angels present; dedicated guardians of the space who are there to offer support should anyone need it. Whether you are moving through emotion, needing a pause, or simply seeking a kind human presence, they are there to help hold the field with compassion. In this way, Earth Dance becomes a microcosmic village space, where we hold one another in our humanity, our vulnerability and our joy. 

Together we come to sing and dance the great song of life itself, expressed through the miracle of our bodies and the limitless nature of our consciousness.

EARTH

Land, lineage & belonging — Earth dance is rooted in relationship with the earth, our land. A physical prayer for our living mother. Earth dance was born of two women, magic mushrooms, a summer of love, dancing on the beach every night under the stars and a deep connection to these lands and the ocean. We remember we are indigenous to the earth, whoever we are. We remember it is our responsbility to come as we are, in our truth, and that we are accepted and loved by our great mother.

FIRE

Activism through art and creative expression & eros — Earth dance is a work of art that inspires change in everyone it touches. It carries the spirit of embodied activism and invites resistance through celebration, beauty and remembering. Earth dance calls us our of out heads and into the primordial landscape of our bodies. Wild, primal and holy. A refusal for numbing in a time that calls us to feel and be alive.

WATER

Grief, love & collective processing — Earth dance holds space for the full emotional spectrum of being alive and a space for collective grief processing. We know the medicine of a space to be together in the full spectrum of our humanity. Light and shadow aspects welcome, “bring it all to the dance”.

AIR

Community, mending the village & inclusivity — We all breathe the same air, we are all so deeply connected, in a world of spearation. We  emphasise belonging, relational connection and collective experience. Earth dance strives to be inclusive and welcoming for all humans. A culture where many identities belong while maintaining clear shared ethos.

ETHER

Spirit, church of all faiths, ceremony & the sacred mystery — At the heart of earth dance is ceremony. When all the above come into alignment, a space opens for spirit to enter. Altar, medicine, music and movement become doorway to the Holy Spirit in all its forms. The dance becomes a living prayer to the great mystery.
